a. Note:   eon on 24 June 1886 in Hilltown Presbyterian Church. He was an auctioneer and had a hem stitching office. After the death of his father and uncle, he took over the
 lease and management of the George Hotel in Rathfriland. He died on 11 July 1913 and is buried in 3rd Rathfriland Presbyterian Churchyard.
 According to the 1901 census, James Brown Johnston lived at 16 John Street, Rathfriland with his children Edmund James, Annie Isabel, Robert Stanley, Margaret Maude, Thomas Alexander and David Wilson. His two sisters-in-law, Margaret
 McCutcheon and Emily Rebecca McNeary, were also living there together with Emily's two daughters, Jane and Anne Roberta. All the houses in John Street are now of a modern type so I presume that the old houses have been demolished sometime ago.
Note:   James Brown Johnston was born in 1837 or 1838. He was married to Annie McCutch
