Grandfather Speirs came from Glascow, Scotland in early 1840's and settled on Clergy Reserve land Moved to Erin Village when she was 4 and lived over a butcher store where father worked
Attended Section #7 school
Married at Perigoe home in Echo Bay - went to Sault Ste. Marie to get boat to Owen Sound
Mrs. Hugh McMillan (nee Bertha Munn) was attendant Taught Sunday School, secretary of WA and sang in choir
Became superintendent of Sunday School when war came.
Harv set out to make Port McNicholl a town, which he did accomplish. He was really preoud of that.
"Flu struck the town. It was dreadful, so many families stricken at once. So many deaths, t and 3 children of one family. We did not take it then. We kept a tin of atr steaming on the sove and ate onions, raw and cooked. We did take it the following year, but it was not so severe."
