Note: Mrs. Floyd (Hazel Ruth) Bierschwale died Wednesday, August 28, 1991 in Knopp Nursing Home in Fredericksburg, Texas. She suffered a massive stroke on July 8, and another one a few days later. She was in a coma until her death. Hazel Ruth Mangold was born January 20, 1905 in a Dugout in Indian Territory near Durham, Oklahoma, prior to Oklahoma achieving statehood in 1907. She was the old daughter of James Curtis and Matilda Hardin Mangold. She was preceded in death by her only brother Otho Mangold. At the age of 12 her family moved to Oregon for a short time. The family moved to Hunt, Texas where she finished her schooling. On February 18, 1922, she married Floyd Milton Bierschwale in Hunt. They began ranching in the Segovia community of Kimble County and spent their entire married life there. She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd on August 6, 1977. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was very active in all phases, especially the Women's work where she often gave Bible Studies; she was a member of the La Junta Study Club, and AARP. Walking was a hobby and collecting aluminum cans for the Kimble Hospital and playing games were among her many interests. Services were August 31, 1991, at 10:30 am at the Presbyterian Church with the REV Ron Guinn, pastor, officiating assisted by REV David Bierschwale, grandson. Joann Hedrick, a granddaughter, played the organ. Pall bearers included 5 grandsons: Paul, William, David, John, and Robert Bierschwale, grandsons-in-law Ken Hedrick, Don Hegwer, and Reed Berlin, husband of her only niece, Anita Gayle Mangold Berlin. Survivors include two sons: Rev. Milton Bierschwale and wife Margaret from Fredericksburg; Carlton A. Bierschwale and wife, Emily from Junction. A sister-in-law, Mrs. Lee (Lilly Mangold) Pitts from San Angelo; and one niece, Anita Gayle Mangold Berlin from Odessa, Texas; seven grandchildren, all previously mentioned but Shirley Hegwer, and seven great-grand children and many friends.
