The Wells family crest: Wells came from Welles, which came from Euille,
which means spring water. The arms are voided azure between three
flames. The crest is the mailed arm clasping a drawn scimitar. The
motto is Pro Deo et Patria. From Cullens Heraldry, page 97, published
1667. Granted by Richard Coeur de Leon, circa 1200AD. This was
compiled by Albert Wells, 1848, the book, Wells Family History.
