 Married Theresa Ann Banks 11/12/1899 Stephen was a commercial fisherman in his early life and later becamea carpenter. In 1920 he built his own house on Cedar St in Keyport, NJ
  In 1855 Stephen attended a one room school house on Florence Ave. inUnion Beach. As fate would have it, this building was later bought byArthur Erickson and converted into a one family dwelling. Arthur'sdaughter, Edythe would latter mary Stephen's son Willard.
  Stephen served in the Army from March 1898 to Feb. 1899 during theSpanish American War.
  STEPHEN SEABROOK JOHNSON - Son of John Johnson and Lucinda (Smith)
 Johnson, born at Keansburg, N.J., July 18, 1874. Stephen was named
 after his Great Grandfather, Stephen Seabrook, (a private of Light
 Horse during the Revolutionary War). Stephen Seabrook interment at
 Old Tennent Church Yard, Freehold, N.J.
 Stephen S. Johnson married Theresa A. Banks, Nov. 12,1899. They had 3 children; Ralph Stephen, Hlarold John, and Willard Bertram (Me).
 My Brother Ralph was born Dec. 11,1901 on Cedar St., Keyport1 N.J. In l925 married Vera Bailey. Divorced Vera end in 1946 married Erma
 Watson. Ralph died Nov. 7,1969. Interment, Green Grove Cemetery,Keyport
 My Brother Harold was born Feb.29,l9C4, also on Cedar St. Fe and his girl friend Mary McNally were killed in l925 in a auto train
 accident at Cliffwood, N.J. crossing.
 My Father was a commercial fisherman in his early married life. After I was born he took up the trade of carpentry. He became a
 member of the Carpenter's Union. He built our home on Cedar St., where
 I grow up.
 I remember my Father telling me when he was a boy going with his Father (John, My Grandfather) in the winter months to cut ice on the
 ponds. There were many ponds around monmouth County, and when they
 would freeze thick enough the men would cut the ice in blocks andstore
 them in a ice house. The ice house was lined with hay and straw about
 one foot thick or thereabout. This would help to keep the ice right
 thru the summer. Yes, it would melt some but at a very slow rate. This
 ice was used in their ice boxes in the summer.
 My Father told me about the little school on Florence Ave, inUhion
 Beach. It was about l885 while attending said school that the teacher
 caught him misbehaving in class. He was told to go out and cut aswitch.
 when he returned the teacher would take the switch and hit him manytimes
 on the legs. You would think twice before cutting up in class again.
 This same school house in later years was converted into a very niceone
 story family dwelling by my future father-in-law (Arthur Erickson).
 This was the house Edythe (my Wife) grew up in.
 Stephen S. Johnson enlisted in the service of the Army during the Spanish Arnerican War. (March 1898). Discharged from active service at
 Athens Georgia, Feb.11, 1899.
 Theresa A (Banks) Johnson My Mother was born in N.Y.City, July 9, 1880. The Daughter or Christian W. Banks and Theresa C. (Wilson)Banks.
 Mother had a sister Lillian (Davis) Banks and a Brother, WilliamBanks.
 Mother told me she remembered as a small girl taking a trolleyride
 to the end or the line with her parents for a picnic in the country.
 (`What is now Central Park in Yew York City). You would only have to
 walk a short distance and you could pick wild flowers and see cows in
 the pastures.

 Keyport, lJ. J.
 Theresa A. Johnson died 1/8/76 - Interment Green Grove Cemetery, Keyport, N.J.
