Note: . He retired after the last of the three wars ended, only due to diabetes, as, the enlisted rank of, Cheif Petty Officer of the USNavy. He served on the U.S.S. Enterprise throughout all three wars. He and his only wife had three children: William Charles Houlne, Robert James Houlne, and Edith Jeanne Houlne. He loved old western movies, keeping his old Pontiac as good as new, relating stories of adventure from personal history, teaching grand children to swim, spending time with grandchildren, keeping a flower garden, taking care of birds and little animals that ever frequented his presence, drinking coffee, peanut butter, classical music, old time musicals (movies), Betty Boop (cartoon character of old), Felix the cat (cartoon character of old), and so much more. He was a wonderful grandfather. He and his wife lived a happy, full life, together. They loved each other deeply, and continue to do so as they rest together in the here- after.
Note: He served through World War 2, the Korean War (after WW2), and the Vietnam War
