a. Note:   in the European African Middle Eastern Theater during W.W.II. , also the Rome-Arno Campaign. He was wounded in action May 11, 1944 in the Italian Theater on the hills outside Napels, Italy. He received the Purple Heart and the E.A.M.E.T. medal with a bronze service star, a good conduct medal, one overseas service bar, combat infantry badge. His date of separation was Sept. 12, 1945, MCCloskey General Hospital in Temple, Texas.
