Note: Emma Durfee was born, 18 Mar 1845 during the persecution days in Nauv oo.
Golden Points, (some records say Soldier's Point) was just outside o
f Nauvoo,
some records say Nauvoo as her place of birth.
Her mother died a month after she was born.
Her father was one of the leaders during those perilous times an
d she must
have been left with neighbors or the older members of her family, whe
n her
father left with the Morman Battalion.
She was only fours years when they crossed the plains, with the
Mississippi Saints.
First baptism; 1855 by Francillo Durfee; and confirmed by same.
Beaver Dam LDS: Re-Baptism records: bapt 30 Sept 1896 by Francillo Du rfey II and
confirmed by J.H. Watkins; 1 Oct 1896.
Her mother is listed as Miriam STONE? instead of Jones.
The name "Emmaline" is used by Donald J. Parr, who did a lot of resea
rch on
the Durfee line. I have not been able to find it in any of my resear

Bill of divorcement from her husband, Marion S.(?) Shelton of the sam

the plaintiff being present, and the defendant being absent from th

After due investigation the court granted the petition of plaintiff a
nd made
the folowing decree of Divorce.

To Whom these presents may come..Know Ye, that at a Special Term of t he
Honorable Probate Court of Cache County in the Territory of Utah, hel
d in
Logan in said County, on Saturday, the ninth day of August, A.D., 186
2, the
petition of Emma Shelton, a resident of Providence, in the county and
Territory aforesaid, came on to be heard for a divorce from her husba
nd, Marion
S. Shelton, a resident of the same placed; upon hearing which, the co urt orders
and decrees, that the petition of the said Emma Shelton, the plaintif
f in
said case, be granted, and that the bonds of matrimoney between the s
aid
Emma Shelton and Marion S. Shelton be this day dissolved. In testimo
ny
whereof the scrawl of the court is hereunto affixed, and the court si gns
