Note: Memorial Day '96 REB, Sharon, Jill, Bridget, lead by Walter, found a "Hocke" stone in Randolph cemetery next to Gustaf Brandenburg and Mr. & Mrs. Henry A. Haack, parents of Anna "Grandma Meyer". This stone clearly shows his name to be "Johann G. E. Hocke". However, during a 10/96 search of Riley County Courthouse records reveals an affidavit showing, among other primary things, his name to be John Hacke, who died intestate, leaving his widow, the said Anna Hacke, who afterwards married Gustav Brandenburg, and no surviving children. This affidavit also stated "the United States Land Office issued a final Receiver's Receipt, dated October 27, 1881 for the West Half of the Southwest Quarter and the Southwest Quarter of the Northwest Quarter of Section 10, and the Southeast Quarter of the Southeast Quarter of Section 9, all in Township 7, Range 5 East, In Riley County, Kansas."
