Note: The Riley Regent newspaper of 7/3/30 copied by REB (KSHS R 196) reported, "Orley H. Swingle Dies Orley H. Swingle, 122 Barnes Avenue, Hastings, Nebraska, died suddenly in the ambulance at Omaha Thursday morning, June 12, as he was being removed from the Union Pacific station to the Burlington, where he was to have taken train No. 5 Thursday afternoon for Hastings. He had been at Rochester, and arrangements had been made for an ambulance to meet the train here and take him at once to the Mary Lanning Memorial Hospital where he was to have been cared for. Instead, a message came later telling the ambulance owners to substitute a different conveyance and to meet the evening train; that Mr. Swingle had succumbed. He was 59 years of age and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Eliza A. Swingle, two sons and two daughters, Mrs. Ethel Mefford, Weskan, Kan., Mrs. Neola Harrington, Ayr, Wayne and Jerald Swingle of Hastings. Funeral services were held at Livingston Chapel at 3:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon, June 14, the Rev. Alva V. King officiating, and burial was at Parkview.
