a. Note:   Thomas arrived in Australia as a free settler in 1845 on ELIZABETH. When asked on his immigtation papers if there were any complaints, he said, "None not a hal' penny worth" He also stated he had a brother at Campbells River to go to. His life in Australia gained him the nickname of "Rushan Bear".
 He was considered by those who knew him to be a 'real card'. Thomas leased some land on the Bathurst side of Rockley on Pepper's Creek where he erected several Irish Cottages to house his 10 children.
 Witness to Marriage Henry Quinn & Anne Cullen. Thomas was living at Peppers Creek in 1850.
