a. Note:   rted to work in the Bon Jellico coal mine. He worked in there in mining for about 17 years and it was during those years he developed "Black Lung" decease. Because of the poor working conditions in the mining industry throughout, respiratory deceases as "Black Lung" was a common occupational hazard up until mining health and safty laws were inacted. Nevertheless, a lot of men came to an early death as a result of working in the coal mines. It was 1936 that Andrew Mack was no longer allowed to continue to work in the coal mines because of his lung condition. It was four years later that he was died, leaving 7 boys and 2 girls to be cared for and raised by his wife, Eva Cleo Cleo (Nunley) Cornelius.
