a. Note:   His blankets were returned home by the family that were caring for him in his final days. His body was never returned to Arkansas. He was in the Bushwacker unit. His Captain George W. Newton checked on him and knew he was dying. Newton left a hundred dollar Confederate bill with him, all he had and left. He never saw him again. William was 5 feet nine inches tall, weighed 144 pounds had dark hair, dark eyes, and sandy whiskers.
Note:   Died at the end of the Civil War in Bowie County, Texas from an unknown fever.
