His parentage is unknow at this time. He wass married three times. His first marriage was too Nancy Musil Born 1836 in Georgia the daughter of William and Martha (polly) Musil Her mather's maiden name is unknown to Mr. and Mrs Filliard were born six sons. Mr. Gilliard sevond marriage was to penelope (penny) Bagley. born aug, 28, 1849 daughter of William and Jane(Davis) Bagley, on Oct 17, 1877 in Ware County, Died april 7,1820 and is buried in Hephzibah Cemetery in Ware County,Georgia. Thhey had five children. all elevven children were born in Ware County. Some of them moved to starke. Bradford County,Florida Others moved to Coffee County and Atkinson County, Georgiaa. Mrs Penny Gilliard died april 7, 1920 and is buried in Hephzibah Cemetery in Ware County. Mr Gilliard's third marriage was to Cindy, maiden name unknown in Blackshear, Georgia. No further isse or information of her They had been married a little more than a year before his death He is buried beside his seecond wife, Penny, at Hephzibah Church cemetery. W.H Gilliaard wass a private in Capt, Gordon'ss Company, 1st(Olmstead's)Regiment georgia Infantry, Aprill 19,1862. He transferred to Commmpany "B"., 13th Battalion , Georgia Infantry,then to Company "K", 63th Regiment ,geeorgia Infantry in December of 1862. He was paroled at Thomasville, Georgia, mmay 21, 18655. Pension record states that he surrendered with his command at the close of the war W.H. Gilliard is reputed to have lived to the ripe old age of 97 according to his grandson Dellie Elmer Gilliard. With the guess work of friends and neighbors, their brith and death dates are as shown on gravestones. Penny B. 1856-1820 William Bill 1840-1924 1870 Census of Ware County shows William as 28 and 1880 shows him as 35 years old. the family bible of Nolie Fillliard Courson indicates the birthdate of Willlian Ww, Gilliard to be Oct. 23, 18442 I am not sure this is the same William. 1900 Federal Census For Appling County ,Georgia SD4ED99SH22B Douglas District Ln.84 GILLIARD, William age 58 Feb.1861 b.S.C. Penny age 38 Aug 1861 b.Ga. Nora (d) age 15 Nov.1884 Wesley(s) age 14 Oct.1885 Lilla (d) age 11 Apr.1889 Richard (s) age 9 Sept 1890 Married for 23 yaers Penny has given birth to seven children,,six still lliving.Living in the same area is Williamm's son George and Fammily.
