Author: M. D. Brann
Text: J. T. PRINCE By request of the church at Blooming Grove, I write the obituary ofBrother J. T. Prince, who was born December 31, 1838, was married toMiss Mary Jackson, daughter of the late Andrew Jackson, in 1863; andto this union were born seven children, one boy and six girls, ofwhich the boy and four girls of the first set are living. He was married the second time to Miss Polly Ann Todd in May 1877, andto this union were born three boys and five girls. Of this set oneboy and four girls are living. He, together with his wife anddaughters, joined the church at Blooming Grove in 1901. Several ofhis children have followed his example since. He departed this life December 31, 1917, making his stay on earth 79years. He leaves a wife, two boys and eight girls to mourn his loss. Now, to the weeping ones I want to say, I know it seems hard to giveone up who was so tender, good and kind in his home, always cheeringand trying to comfort the downcast, ever having a kind word for everyone. Yes, dear ones, we miss him at the old church where he has beenso faithlful these many years. We can no more see him, trudgingthrough the mud and cold to fill his seat in the old house to enjoy aforetaste of the world beyond. But he is gone where he can and willforever enjoy the things God has prepared for them that love Him. Soweep not as those who have no hope, but endeavor to keep the goodexample and kind advice he gave; and after while when our trials areover and our work is done, we will go home to glory to meet BrotherPrince and all the redeemed family of God where we shall see Jesus andbe like Him for ever and ever. This is enough to pay us for more thana life of trials and troubles here below. "A few more days on earth to spend And all our toils and cares shall end. And we shall see our God and friend And be forever blessed." Humbly, M. D. Brann Palsmerville, Tenn.
