Notes
a. Note:   REFN462 In a July 20, 1998 letter Betty Jean Lees wrote,"Patience (Dyer)
 Franklin's second husband was Samuel Tillinghast". Patience Dyer married
 Samuel Tillinghast June 28, 1849. According to the 1850 US census for
 Warwick, Kent, RI, "William J. Dyer, 54, machinist; Sarah Dyer 53; Patience Tillinghast 26; Samuel Tillinghast 28, mariner; Abby A. Tillinghast 7; Hannah Tillinghast 5." I believe that first it should be
 William T. Dyer; ; second that Abby A. Tillinghast is Abby A. Franklin;
 third that Hannah is another daughter of John A. and Patience (Dyer)
 Franklin. Somewhere in the 1844 to 1849 period John and Patience must
 have been divorced, or perhaps John A. died. By the 1850 census Patience
 and Samuel Tillinghast were married and I believe that Samuel must have
 adopted Abby and Hannah, or else they just gave the two girls the
 Tillinghast name. In future references I have for Abby A. she is always
 Franklin.
