a. Note:   1742 for an unknown reason he decided to immigrate to America. Heboarded a river boat with his parents and brothers and sisters andbegan his journey north on the Rhine River to the city of Rotterdam,Holland where he boarded the Robert and Alice. On 24 Sept. 1742 hearrived at the Port of Philadelphia. Simon Peter eventually settledin Hereford Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
  Simon Peter Gehris's will is on file in both the original German andin an English translation in the Berks County Courthouse in Reading,Pennsylvania.
