Family
Marriage:
Notes
a. Note:   Mary was one of those special women who always gave to her family and appeared able to handle everything that came her way. She and Wade married young and had Harold when both were in their teens. Wade had a temper but Mary knew how to help him control it and was always there for him. Mary, as most women in her generation played the housewife and mother supporting role, and did it so well that it was obvious she could have run a company. Mary and Wade had decided young to have only one child then send him to college as they both knew how hard life was without a good education. Mary was born to a loving family at a time when they had just arrived in Los Angeles from Tenn. She had two younger brothers and learned early how do help her mother cook, wash, and clean the house. She was an excellent housekeeper and organized everything around the home front to free Wade for work at RJ Daum. Mary was an avid golfer and enjoyed golfing well into her 70's. Mary was a giver, she was always there for her family including her sister, neice Linda and of course her son and grandchildren. She took care of Linda for an entire year when her mother ( Mary Fry) was ill. Linda stayed close to Mary and was a frequent visitor to Wade and Mary's home. Mary was a wonderful grandmother and the grandchildren Susan, Cheryl and Mark grew up visiting her weekly if not more. Mary prepared many excellent meals and enjoyed taking the grandchildren to Lakeside Country Club, pool parties and other special places. As she had never had any daughters and became a grandmother while in her forties, she was like a second mother to her grandchildren who lived less than a mile away. Mary was an excellent cook, her steak dinners, potato salad, and delicious boiled custard I can taste today. Mary had a way with people and was loved by all. Mary didn't have it easy in life, she worked hard most of her life and handled well all that life threw her way. She worked during the depression at department stores and cared for an ailing husband for over 15 years. She also lived independently in Los Angeles then Palm Springs for over a decade. She took care of siblings and parents as they needed her help. Mary was more than a grandmother, she was a confident and best friend.
