Notes
a. Note:   My Great-Grandmother Mary Anna Sehl has different spellings of her name.
Maria Anna - Seel, Sahl, Sale or the one on her papers from Germany (Sehl). The others are from marriage certificates & church records.
I also discovered that there were 9 children born to Joseph and Mary Casper but only 7 were alive by the 1880 Census.
Her original Spelling of her full name is Maria Ana.
Mary died from cancer at the age of 60.
The information was from her son Nicks marriage certificate & St. Mary's Church, Avon, Ohio, the 1880 census & courthouse records.
Mary was laid to rest at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Avon, Ohio. Section A-lot 11, row 9. I could not find a headstone for her or Joseph.
I may have located Mary's true maiden name. On an old record from Germany, her last name is Spelled Sehl. The document needs to be translated. I believe it is a form of a passport from when they came to America. This document was furnished by my cousins mother Margaret Smith. It is a great find. I really hope he can find more information on this.
On the 1880 census, after Joseph and his family are listed there is listed a Peter Sahl age 77 and listed as Uncle. This has to be Mary's Uncle. Wish I could find out about her parents. They were supposed to be well to do, having residences in Luxembourg, and Strasburg, Germany.
I have been in contact with a Father Terry Sehl, from Canada and his Sehl family came from Senheim, Germany. We haven't made a direct connection yet, but I do believe that he is related. I think that Mary Ann's father was a brother to Fr. Terry's ancestor. We just have to make a connection through old church records at the Latter Day Saints library.
