a. Note:   W.H. attended Brenham Public Schools, Blinn College and the German-American Institute. He received his Teachers Certificate in 1903. He read for the Law and was admitted to the Bar, practicing in partnership with Mr. W. C. Henderson in Brenham. He taught school at Guion school, near Lawn, Texas, in 1904 and 1905. After moving to Brenham and practicing law for about ten years, he was elected as District Clerk in 1914. He held that office until 1920 when he was elected County Attorney. He ran unsucessfully for County Judge in 1934 and returned to private practice with former Judge A. W. Hodde until his death in 1938.
