Note: Most of the information on Solomon Phelps family is from a descendent - Martha M. Wright of Minnetonka, MN who is trying to "prove" that this Solomon is the son of Paul Phelps. 1820 Dryden Tompkins Co., NY Census for Solomon Phelps 1 male 10-15 1 male 26-44 6 females 0-9 1 female 10-15 1 female 26-44 1830 Lafayette, Onondaga Co. NY for Solomon Phelps Solomon age 69 Polly age 60 Clark age 19 From a letter written by H.H. Phelps dated 12/12 1933, to his daughter Louana Phelps Bush: "The Phelpses were large men back of my Father. Father, (Roswell Huntley Phelps) and his brothers took after their mother and the Emery's were smaller. At least she was. She died at our house at Adams County (WI) when I was a small boy. I can just remember her. She was a widow then. I never saw my Father's father (Solomon Phelps). There were two other Phelpses in Adams County besides our family. Sim and Ed. They were large and very able men. There were cousins of my Father. Anna, Father's sister married Sim Phelps, her cousin. I suppose his name was Simeon. (Census records show that Chester Phelps married Anna, and that Simeon Phelps married a Maria, possible maiden name being Shue.) Father had three brothers, Daniel, John and Clark. I have seen Uncle Dan and Uncle John, but never Clark. Clark never came west but enlisted in the War of the Rebellion from the state of New York and died from sickness and is buried at the cemetery at Washington, Arlington."
