a. Note:   Richard served as a private, the latter part of the revolutionary war, in the Florida regiment of the Orange county, N.Y. militia, Commanded by Col. Henry Wisner in the company of Richard Bailey.
 Richard was listed in the 1810 census of Towanda Twp., Luzerne Co., PA. He accompanied his father-in-law, Amos Bennett, To Wyalusing in 1785, and resided there until the fall of 1793, When he and his brother-in-law, Benjamin Acla, Went to Bennett's Creek in Asylum, built log houses and the following spring moved in with their families. He lived on the farm known as the Haight place, Where he died March 21, 1815, possessed of 500 acres of land, leaving a wife and ten children. He is buried in the old Storrs' farm, but no stone marker marks his grave. (From Towanda Historical Society book ,Patriot's & Pioneers of Bradford Co.).
  ************************************************************************** Richard Benjamin 5 born between 1740-1750 probably in Goshen, Orange Co. NY. The probable son of Jonathan Benjamin: died March 21, 1815 at Bennett Creek, PA. and is buried on the old Storr Farm with no headstone. He married Martha Bennett, Dau. of Amos and Anna (Duncan) Bennett. She was born between 1750-1760 at Wyoming Valley, PA.
 He is listed in 1796 as a taxable inhabitant of the Wyalusing District of Bradford, Co.. PA.
 There is a Richard Benjamin listed in the 1790 census at Warwick, Orange, Co., NY with 1-3-3.
 In the fall of 1782 or 1785 Richard moved to Wyalusing area in PA. (Note: He does not seem to appear in the 1790 census of PA.) Benjamin Acla, Richard Benjamin and Amos Bennett came to , what was afterwards called Bennett's Creek and built log houses in the fall of 1793 in Asylum Township. They were originally from Florida, near Goshen, in Orange Co., NY.
 Richard lived near where H.L. Haight lived in 1891. He was listed in the 1810 census of Towanda Twp., Luzerne, Co., PA.
 There is a military record for a Richard Benjamin who was a member of the N.Y. Provincial Troops and enlisted April 21, 1760 at the age of 19(bc 1741), was a weaver born in Suffolk Co.,and was in the Company of Captain Daniel Wells. (This might be the military record of another Richard, Because of the birth place.). Another source says he served as a private the later part of the Rev. War. in the Florida Regt. of the Orange Co. Militia commanded by Col. Henry Wisner.
