Note: Jonathan Benjamin-4 (David-3, Richard-2-1). He was born about 1714 at Southold, Long Island, New York; The son of David Benjamin and an unknown wife. The name of his wife and his death date are unknown. He came from Long Island with his father to Orange Co. New York about 1730. He later moved to PA. There is a deed (C;175) in which Jonathan gives a quit claim to his share of his father's estate on June 1738 to Thomas Ellison, a big land owner in New Winsor, NY. It must have been about this time that he moved to PA. There is a possibility that his children, Richard, Deborah and Julia may have been Silas-4 or David-4 children. F. Everett Benjamin leans toward David 4. David testified that he was one of the early settlers in Orange Co.. NY. and had two sons, one living "here" the other he did not know where. When the Bicha book was first done about 15 years ago, (this letter was written in 1991) it was thought that Jonathon was the best fit. He states that on further reflection he believes that Jonathon's brother David would be a better match.
