Note: Annie Cawthon formerly of Clarke County, Virginia. George was born soon after the family had made their trek from Clarke County to Parkersburg in the late 1850s. They probably used the old Northwestern Turnpike as their route to their new home. He lived most of his life in Wood and Wirt Counties. He moved to Steubenville in around 1911 and worked in the street car barns there. He was only 59 when cancer claimed him in 1920. He was buried in Union Cemetary in Steubenville, Ohio. His beloved wife Mary Wheeler Tice Cawthon is at his side.
