a. Note:   his family (William M. & Martha R. Pool of Alabama - including 4daughters and 3 sons), settling in Milam County first before moving toPiedmont, Texas, Grimes County. Robert married Nellie Duffy Wright(daughter of John & Elvira Wright - farmers near Erwin on the lowerErwin Road which family
 consisted of 5 daughters and 3 sons) on 23 March 1884.
  Robert and Duffie built their home in Piedmont on land Robert paid$5.00 an acre for where he operated as a rancher and farmer for manyyears. Often, the cattle and hogs were run on the open range (prior tofencing). Robert served the County as Deputy Sheriff under SheriffWyatt Binford, Sr., and was a member of the Blue Lake Free Will BapistChurch in Piedmont. Robert lived a full and active life which includedriding his horse (Blackie) well into 90th year. He suffered a strokeat the age of 92 and was confined to his bed with paralyze and loss ofspeech for another three years. Mrs. Pool preceded her husband indeath (heart attack) on
 July 26, 1970.
  To this couple four children were born - John Robert Pool, who waskilled in France on July 25, 1944 during World War II; Vivian PoolWalker, who has recently moved to Navasota from Baytown; Van FosterPool, who died September 13, 1954, and Lloyd Pool. At the time oftheir deaths, Mr. and Mrs Pool were survived by 6 grandchildren and 3great grandchildren.
