a. Note:   Anna is listed as the widow of John A. Knobloch in the 1885 Rochester Directory.
  However, his name was given as Jero A. Knobloch on Eliza's (his daughter) death certificate. Since we only have a typed transcript of that record, it is quite possible that his name was misread.
  According to Madeilne Fabry Bloom, he went to California in the Gold Rush and was never heard from again
