OBITUARY from Allentown Morning Call
Mrs. Katie M. (Smith) Roberts, 83, widow of Horace W. Roberts, died at 4 a.m. yesterday in her home at 913 Court Street, Allentown. She was taken ill on Thursday.
Born in Parryville, she was a daughter of the late Davis A. and Lucy (Schoenberger) Smith. She lived in Allentown for the last 65 years.
She was a member of Seibert Evangelical Congregational Churdh, the Servo Bible Class and the Willing Workers of the church. Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Hattie Reber, and Olive, wife of Erle H Weinsheimer, both of Allentown, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the J. S. Burkholder Funeral Home, 1601 Hamilton St.

Call Wednesday 7 to 8:30 p.m. NOTE: For many years, Katie managed American Stamp and Stecil Co., a business started by her husband.
The business was later managed by her grandson, Joseph Roberts, but she continued working there until several weeks before her death.
She was preceeded in death by her son Walter A. Roberts. She had a daughter, Olive, who died in infancy.
While checking out the small gravestones across from the graves of Katie and Horace Roberts, John brushed the dirt off one small stone which he thought was a brother of Katie Smith Roberts. To our surprise, the stone read Olive M. Roberts. This is undoubtedly the grave of the baby in the picture given to us by John's niece, Joan Roberts Jensen, which we called the "dead baby". She was born May 4, 1893 and died January 16, 1894. There had been vague rumers of a daughter but until then we were unable to confirm it.
