Note:   THE JONES FAMILYThe Jones family, more numerous than any other among themembership of Plymouth Meeting, are the descendants of DavidJones, who came from Haverford in Wales, and purchased a largetract of land in the vacinity. A considerable part of the landnow included in the borough of Conshohocken was owned by thefamily for several generations.David Jones came to Pennsylvania, with his family, in the year1700, about which time there appears to have been so large anemigration of Welsh Friends to this section of the Provence.David Jones brought with him to Pennsylvania the followingcertificate from the meeting to which he belonged in Wales.From the men's meeting in Haverford west, Pembrokeshire wales.4th day of first month 1699/1700.Whereas, our tender and well beloved friend David Jones and hiswife and children intends to remove themselves for the provinceof Pennsylvanie. These are to certify whom it may comcern, wehave a dear and tender love for them, and truly desire theirwelfare. We certify that we believe them to be clear of debts orencumbrances, the want of which has made truth suffer in manyplaces in this nation. This land was willed to his son Johnwho then sold it and bought the land in Montgomery Co. thatConshohocken is on today.
