a. Note:   from Gone by Not Forgotten, Vol IV by Partain and McManus pg. 202 Miguel DeVille had the largest tobacco plantation in Louisiana during the Revolutionalry War period. He donated 400 carats of tobacco to Galvez's troops. Miguel and three of his sons were members of the Rapides Post Militia under Captain Etienne Layssard. His plantation of 9-1/2 arpents on Red River was 50 arpents deep. On July 1768 Miguel was issued a Royal Spanish Land Grant - Section 16. His two story plantation homes were described in his succession as were the many outhouses and cabins.
