a. Note:   g duties would require her to live with the patient as most the the "posts" were in neighboring towns. Duties she perform included nursing, cooking, cleaning, taking care of children and in some cases consoling the family.
  Her sister Kate ran the Hotel Rockford at LongLake Wisconis. Sarah and her other un-married sisters would work at the hotel for the summer.
  Sarah won the Minonk Queen of the Carnival contest when she was a teenager. She was crowned and given the ring by H.B. Meils who was mayor of Minonk according to an original newspaper article. He was mayor between 1903 and 1907. She gave the diamond ring to her daughter Jean Hildebrand. Letters from Sarah to her soon-to-be husband Warren Hildebrand Sr. were found at Jean's house. The letter started in August of 1917 and continue until December 1918. Warren and Sarah were married December 18, 1918. The letters indicated the hardship of communication and travel during that period of time. Warren lived in Monroe Center Il and Sarah in Rockford Il about 20 miles apart. Warren only traveled to Rockford on Sunday and only if weather permitted travel and the crops on the farm did not need tending. Once or twice Sarah traveled to Monroe Center by train to visit. In either case it was an all day excursion and only afforded about 3 hours of time together. She is buried in the Monroe Center Cemetery
