  Vietman 1970-1971. Soel, Korea 1971. Preliminary diagnosis after serving his tour, Steve had agent orange in his blood and shrapnel in his lower back from a rocket attack in Vietnam.

  Laborer throughout his life: Built Mobilhomes in New Ulm, Minnesota. Drilled for Oil in the Gulf of Mexico. Road Construction in Southern Minnesota
  Medical & Burial:
  In late 1992, Steve had an absess tooth removed and discovered cancer in his right jaw. The medical surgeons removed his right jaw and replaced it with his fibia from the left leg. In April 1993, cancer reappeared and by June Steve was paralyzed from the waist down due to the inflammation on his spine from the bone cancer. Steve passed away on November 19, 1993 at his grandfather/grandmothers (Oscar & Katherine Samlaska) home at 113 Joy Avenue in Madelia, Minnesota. Steve was age 44 and single at the time.
  Steve is buried next to his father in Madelia, Minnesota.
