Note: Obit notice from The Alton Evening Telegraph "DAVIS Brighton- Roy Davis, 72, of Brighton, died at 1:40 P.M. Wednesday at St. Elisabeth's Hospital in Granite City. He was born Sept. 4, 1898, in Brighton, and married the former Bessie Howerton, Dec. 6, 1921, in Carlinville. After their marriage, they lived in Shipman, and then Alton until his retirement as watchman at the Alton Box Board in 196, when they moved to Brighton. In addition to his widow, Bessie, he leaves a son, Vernon Sr. of Brighton; a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Wilson of Brighton; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; three brothers, Harvey, Earl, and Raymond, all of Bunker Hill; and two sister, Mrs. Nellie Bullman and Mrs. Bessie Sanner, both of Bunker Hill. Funeral services will be at 2 P.M. Saturday at the Warner Funeral Home in Brighton with the Rev. Lolard A. Simmons, pastor of the Curdie Heights Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the Shipman Cemetery. Friends may call after 4 P.M. Friday at the funeral home."
