Note: Obit NOTICE from the Sat., Oct. 21, 1978, Alton Evening Telegraph "DAVIS Brighton - Clara Bessie Davis, 76, of 104 Anna, died Fridy at 7:10 P.M. at St Joseph's Hospital in Alton. She was the daughter of the late Henry and Estella Brooks Howerton. She married Roy Davis on Dec. 6, 1921, in Carlinville. He died on April 7, 1971. A son, Harold Davis, also preceded her in death, in 1957. She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Joyce Wilson of Brighton; a son, Vernon Davis of Brighton; two sisters, Ollie Hackney of Bunker Hill and Eva Rhoades of Carlinville; two brothers, Fred Howerton of Shipman and M. M. Howerton of Plainview; none grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Visitation will be after 3 P.M. Sunday at the Warner-Targhetta Funeral Home in Brighton where funeral services will be held Monday at 1:30 P.M. with the Rev. Richard Farrell officiating. Burial will be in Shipman Cemetery."
