a. Note:   Freeport, Ill in 1856. The land had no improvements. Being a stonemason, he built a stone house with full basement, two floors, and agarret. he also built a large bank barn, the lower part which was ofstone. The west side was for horses and the east for cows. The farmwas only a few rods from the Chicago, Milwaukie, and St. Paulrailroad. Both Freeport and Dakota, Ill where on this line. He wasordained a minister in the Freeport Mennonite Church about 1864 andwas the first English speaking minister in that congregation. He isburied in the Freeport Mennonite cemetery.
