Notes
a. Note:   (D) GENERATION #4 WILLIAM WALDEN Nancy owned property on the Hurricane River next to J.H. Castleman. Since this property was listed as belonging to Nancy, it is presumed to be part of her father's estate. Almost all of William and Nancy Walden's children could read and write and corresponded with one another Mr. J.H. Castleman wrote to Richard, son of William, in 1861, telling him that his father was not well and had not gone out of the house for two years; that Nancy, his mother, was in good health and had been to church in Ebenezer the Sunday before. He also wrote about the war, naming the boys that had gone from LaVerne to join the Confederacy. He said several of Charles Henry Walden's sons had joined Jack Gooch's Company. It is not known when Nancy died, but she was listed on the 1880 census as a resident of Rutherford County, Tennessee, a farmer, eighty years old, and living alone.
