a. Note:   1803 May 1 - born in Clayton Center, Jefferson, NY
  1844 - Moved to Phoenix Township, Henry, Il. He came in a wagon and buggy with three good horses. The buggy gave out in Ohio. upon his arrival in Henry county, he exchanged a horse for a cooking stove and 10 bushels of corn. He located on section 1 of Township 17, cleared the land and built his house. In the process Rufus was killed by the kick of a horse. Rodney and his older brother Charles ran the homestead for some years.
