Note: I have now received official confirmation that Albert Pounder, my father, was born 17th April 1909 and that his mothers' maiden was Schofield. Keith Albert born in 1909 was born in 2nd qtr, ie:April,May, June. ----------------- Albert Pounder Jnr had 2 sons and he was married but he had an ex-wife who was living in Nottingham Albert, my father, worked at Collieries in Derbyshire. He was certainly at Bolsover and I believe Ilkeston. He worked at Wilford Power Station on the river Trent in Nottingham when it opened in 1947 and for a while after. The shop was in Nottingham, just outside the centre but on one of the main roads into the centre. It was in Nottingham where he died, I believe somewhere near to Trent Bridge cricket ground. Note: (Research):He is not Albert who married Ada Gott as that Albert was son of Ernest Pounder and Alice Hind of Nott and was b. 1914 and died 2002. There was an Albert W. Pounder who married a Irene Elliott in 1953 in Basford but that Albert was a maker of leather goods. Hello Again. As you probably remember I have been suspicious about the remarriage of my father. The register office at Basford had no record. I have now received a certificate showing the marriage of Albert Pounder to Ada Gott. This confirms that it is a different Albert Pounder. The age is shown as 35 and he is listed as a Clerk. Also his father's name is shown as Ernest who was a leather worker. 4 differences from known facts! It looks like I now have to start again. Any bright ideas anyone! Cheers, Keith this is the albert above Name: Albert Pounder Birth Date: 11 Mar 1914 Death Registration Month/Year: May 2002 Age at death (estimated): 88 Registration district: Rushcliffe Inferred County: Nottinghamshire Register number: 27C District and Subdistrict: 6901 Entry Number: 221 In 1950 the Albert who married Ada was registered as living with an "Ernest Gott and his daughter Ada D Gott" This address would certainly be convenient for the power station but less so for the shop. I have been in touch with the undertakers and the carers but neither was very forthcoming and unwilling to confirm or otherwise the question asked about employment. I have had no success so far in tracing the divorce which must have been around 1948/49. ---Keith Pounder electoral register shows Ernest,Mary Elizabeth and Ada D Gott in 1948. The same address for 1950 indicates Ernest Gott, Ada D Gott and Albert Pounder. The address quoted is a grove which backs up onto the Bridgford end of the Trent Bridge cricket ground The Nottingham Evening Post of 3rd May 2002 has a notice that Albert, husband of Doris and father of John died 30th April 2002 aged 88. Donations to Marie Curie nurses. My father would have been 93 on that date -- hence the confusion. Doris Pounder died 6th June 2002 aged 81. The church quoted is possibly nearest to where they were living. This is why I am trying to check other sources such as power station records, without much success so far.
