a. Note:   My great grandfather was Capt of a whaling fleet (so oral history says) and the one picture that I have of him confirms this. He lived in St. John's. His name was William James Exon Green and I believe he went by James. My grandfather was also William James but he went by Will or Bill and was a printer. They moved to the US in 1910.
  I can't find anything on my ggrandfather...or nothing that I can validate. My ggrandmother was Elmira Faulkner but oral history says she was brought up by a Capt. Diamond. Again, I can't find anything...must get to Newfoundland. She died around 1880 in childbirth and James married again so that complicates things also.
  William James (James) Green was a book printer as per 1920 census in Massachusetts. Emigrated to Massachusetts in 1909
