Notes
a. Note:   Per the Duxbury stories, Catherine O'Shea was from a wealthy family but had a falling out. However, she usually signed records with an X which indicates she could not read or write which is not consistent with a rich family. ------------------------

Catherine SWALES was a widow in 1881 and had her daughter Margaret SWALES living with her at Swinton lodge near Masham in Yorkshire. She also had two Grand-daughters liv ing with her - Isabella HAMMOND and Margaret I. POUNDER. I believe that Swinton Lodge might be the small gatehouse( s ) at the entrance to Swinton Park. The owner of the estate had founded a school on the estate.
