a. Note:   In 1897, he moved with his parents to a homestead on Antler Creek on Sec 6-4-33 , northeast of Glen Ewen, Saskatchewan. In 1919 he married Violet Patterson, da ughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Patterson of Carnduff, Sask. They farmed southeas t of Carievale in the Ash Grove District. Here they raised their family of six children: Beatrice,James, Nellie,Wilbert, Donald and Hazel. Percy was a member of the United Church, and took an active part on the Church Board, and as trus tee of the local school for many years. In 1929, their two-storey house was de stroyed by fire, and a new one-storey was built. In 1949, Percy Barker accepte d the job as manager of the Ogilvie Elevator in Carievale so moved with his fam ily to town. He bought the Harry Bellamy house (built by John Harris) from Will iam McMillan. After ten years, the Ogilvie Elevator company sold out, so Percy retired. He was a member of the Board of Trade, and with the help of his wife, Violet, managed the local theatre and hall. In 1969, Percy and Violet had the good fortune to celebrate their 50th. Wedding Anniversary. Violet passed away in February 1972 and Percy in August of the same year. Percy Robert Barker died at the Gainsbourgh Union Hospital on August 13, 1972 at the age of 80 years, 11 months and 2 days.
