a. Note:   John Atkinson of Lancashire, England, came to Canada in 1819 and settled on Lot 3 Concession 7 Esquesing.
  Some people have 8 daughters for them, but there are only 7 as Sarah Ann Atkinson who married James Leeming Skirrow is the d/o James Atkinson and Sarah, not John and Isabella Atkinson.
  Esquesing Township, Cemetery No 26 Neilson Farm Concession 7 Lot 3 Neilson Farm History John Atkinson of Lancashire, England, came to Canada in 1819 and settled on Lot 3 Concession 7 Esquesing. He had married Isabella Skirrow in 1812. They had 10 children, 8 girls and 2 boys. John died in 1845, aged 51 years. Robert Atkinson had a sawmill on the property before moving to Blyth and then to Manitoba. John Jr. operated the farm before selling it to his brother-in-law, Thomas Howson, who had married Isabella Atkinson. They had 10 girls and 1 boy. In 1877, the farm was sold to Robert S. Hall of Hornby. He sold it to Abraham Neilson in 1881. His son, Andrew Neilson, took over the farm and left it to his son, Abraham. Abraham Neilson's son, Marshall now owns the property. (1983)
