a. Note:   Matthew, Jane and Margaret are listed in the 1881 Canadian Census living with Matthew's parents in Manitoba. Matthew is list as 32, Jane as 31 and Margaret as 2 years old. There respective birthdates would be abt 1849, abt 1850 and abt 1879. Jean is not listed....therefore her birthdate could not be 1875. All the children must have been born in Manitoba as they were living in Manitoba in 1881 and Margaret is listed as being born in Manitoba.
