Note: Born December 29,1964 Sandra did not want to come out into the cruel world. Due date was November 20, and finally born Dec 29,1964. It is with heavy hearts and deep sadness that the family of Sandra Alden MacAskill announce her sudden passing on Sunday, April 19, 2009 after a valiant fight against cancer. Left to mourn Sandra's loss is her husband, Clayton MacAskill of Grande Cache, Alberta; her children, Tamara and Miranda MacAskill both at home in Grande Cache, Alberta; and her step children, Colin, Caitlyn and Justin MacAskill. Also left behind is her mother, Florence Alden of Grande Cache, Alberta; and Sandra's sisters, Donna (Al) Bugden and their children, Alyson and Olivia of Winnipeg, Manitoba and Helen Richards and her children Jennifer and Erin of Grande Cache, Alberta and Sandra's brother-in-law Jim Richards of Grande Prairie, Alberta. Also left are numerous other relatives and friends in Canada, New Zealand and Australia. Sandra was predeceased by her father, Merl Alden in 2005; her maternal grandparents Helen and Gilbert Trent; and paternal grandparents Helen Keane and Albert Pounder. Sandra lived for Clayton, her children and her family. She could always be counted on to lend a hand to those in need. Sandra was caring and compassionate and had a heart of gold. We will cherish the time we were so fortunate to have with Sandra and she will live on in our hearts until we meet again. We love you and we miss you!!! In keeping with Sandra's wishes cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Sandra's life will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at Grande Cache Community High School Gymnasium at 10601 Hoppe Avenue Grande Cache, Alberta at 1:30 pm with Pastor Brad Shellenberg officiating. A reception will follow at the Metis Nation Hall at 3300 Pine Plaza. In lieu of floral tributes, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 1200 - 8215 112 Street N.W., Edmonton, Alberta T6G 2C8 in memory of Sandra Alden MacAskill.
