  Wetherholt Cemetery records.
“GALLIPOLIS, OHIO, JANUARY 21.—On Wednesday morning, January 15, Eddie, age three years, son of Mr. B. W. Persinger, of this city, died of scarlet fever. Saturday evening following, Ritter, aged five years, another son died of the same disease, and this morning B. W.—an infant son, and the only remaining child, died—three dead and buried within a week. The truly distressing afflictions that have befallen Mr. and Mrs. Persinger bring to the minds of our citizens the terrible bereavement that has occurred in the family with which Mr. Persinger and his wife are connected. Mrs. Persinger is a daughter of Mrs. Christine Myers, of this city, who since the 1st of last September has been called upon to mourn the loss of the following relatives: Mrs. Eliza Walker, wife of a brother in Texas; Robert A. Bugbee, son of a sister in Texas; James Myers, her son; William Walker, her brother; Alice Walker, a niece; Laing Walker and Mont. (should be “Grant”) Walker, her nephews; Mrs. Maria Halliday, the wife of a nephew, and now the three children of her daughter, Mrs. Persinger—in all, eleven deaths in a little over four months.”
