a. Note:   eaking her shaft drifted down and lay at Walkers Landing. Thirty five people in Gallipolis and vicinity died of the terrible plague.
  Ten children; three died in infancy and three others (Alice Almonia, David Laing, and Grant) died of yellow fever with William. James Francis, Viola Virginia Bush (m. Jacob Bush), Mary Elizabeth and Charles William Bailey were the others.
  William was a successful farmer and politician. He lived on the land his father bought in 1816 from the Ohio Land Co., just below Gallipolis. James Francis married Mary Alice Spencer; they had four children including CaBelle Bean who corresponded with Grandma Koontz.
  Margaret Hartsook died in the Walker home on 9 Apr 1868 in her 52nd year. She was Nancy's sister. She never married.
