Notes
a. Note:   N144 "Dr. Edson H. YOUNG (photo) Prominent South Side Doctor Dead Dr. Edson H. Young Succumbed to Heart Failure Induced by Pneumonia
Dr. Edson H. Young, a prominent Elk St. physician, died at his home at 8:30 o'clock yesterday morning after an illness of only one week. Dr. Young was attacked with pneumonia one week ago today, which imposed a severe tax on his system and induced heart failure causing his death. Edson Herbert Young was born in Starksboro, Vermont 44 years ago and had enjoyed a lucrative practice in this city for the past 14 years. When a young man, he displayed a liking for the medical profession and took up a course in the Burlington Medical College, Burlington, Vt., from which institution he was graduated in the spring of 1884. Following his graduation, Dr. YOUNG immediately came to Buffalo and became associated with Dr. Walter D. GREENE. He did not remain here long, however, and removed to Warsaw, N.Y. where he followed his profession successfully for about five years. Dr. YOUNG then decided to come again to Buffalo and for many years he had been located at 444 Elk street. Dr. Young was well known among the medical fraternity in this city and his ability was universally recognized. He was a man who made many friends and his death will be sincerely mourned by all with whom he had been thrown in contact during his life. He was a prominent member of St. Mark's M. E. church on Elk street, an energetic worker and for a number of years served as treasurer of that church. He was a trustee of the church for 15 years and will be greatly missed. Dr. Young is survived by his wife and two children, Ruth E. and R. Gordon YOUNG, also one sister, Mrs. E. J. RAYMOND of Dawson, North Dakota; and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. R. A. YOUNG of Bristol, Vt. The funeral will take place Wednesday afternoon at 2 o'clock from his late home 444 Elk street, Rev. Price A. CROWE officiating."
*** Note: Edson's children are living with his married sister and his mother in Minneapolis in the 1910 census, taken shortly after the death of his second wife, Martha Parmelee. It's not clear when the children went to live with relatives - after his first wife's death, after his second marriage, after his death, or when Martha became ill and died. They are not mentioned in her obituary.
