  Florence (Painter) Griffith, 91, 1577 Cleveland Road, Wooster, died Thursday, March 21, at her residence. Memorial services will be Saturday, March 30 at 1:30 p.m. at McGaw Chapel on the College of Wooster campus, with the Rev. Carroll Meyer officiating. Burial will be at Wooster Cemetery. The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the chapel. Arrangements are being handled by McIntire, Davis & Greene Funeral Home in Wooster. Memorial contributions may be made to the Westminster Presbyterian Church, 353 E. Pine St., Wooster; or to Hospice of Wayne County Inc., 2330 Cleveland Road, Wooster 44691. She was born in 1905 in Shelby to Walter E. and Harriet (Drake) Painter and married Ray A. Griffith on Oct. 13, 1928. He died in 1977. She was a 1923 graduate of Wooster Hight School and a 1927 graduate of The College of Wooster, where she was the class secretary. She also took library courses at Akron University and Kent State University. She had taught at Rittman High School from 1927-28 and was high school librarian at Tuslaw High School from 1960-73. She was a life member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Women's Association of the church. She was a 55 year member and past president of Thursday Club, and a member of Retirees of The College of Wooster. She was an active campaigner for the passage of the bond issues for the new Wooster High School. Surviving are two daughters, Virginia Griffith Watson (Mrs. Roy) of Moneta, Va., and Sally Griffith Young (Mrs. John) of West Middlesex, Pa.; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Sarah J. Painter of Wooster, Harriet P. Hopkins of Rocky River, and Miriam P. Palmer of Athens."
