Mrs. Knight was born in Bristol in 1806 and resided here most of her life. She was a daughter of Solomon Drake, who was among the well known early residents of this place. Arsina DRAKE, as she was called in her early years, married Harvey PARMELEE and many long years of happy married life did they spend on their farm a mile and a half northwest of this village. Four children, three sons and a daughter grew up to manhood and womanhood and then death took away the husband and father, and the youngest son took possession of the homestead, his widowed mother remaining with him. A few years since, Mr. B. L. KNIGHT of Starksboro, an old and respected friend of the widow, persuaded her to preside over his home and they were united in marriage. As a maiden, wife, mother and widow, Mrs. Knight's life has been an exemplary one, full of gentle love and charity toward all, abounding in good deeds and ever ready to lend a helping hand to the destitute. The large circle of relatives and friends who mourn their loss in her departure to a heavenly land are comforted with the thoughts of the consistent Christian life that has been lived out year after year before them. Mrs. Knight's last days were spent with her youngest son. Since her coming there last spring, her health has been feeble and latterly severe sickness has been using up the vital forces. Three days previous to her death there was a severe attack of vomiting and from that time, the loving ones who attended her knew that death was near. The funeral on Monday p.m. was very largely attended. Elder BURGEN of Starksboro conducted the services."
