Thomas spend 47 years 242 days in the San Antonio State Mental Hospital. He was schizophrenic, simple type. He got syphilis at age 15. Three sisters and one brother were mentally ill according to his records. Thomas was admitted Feb. 22, 1924 and furloughed Oct. 22, 1971. He died while on furlough to Lakewood Convalescent Home, 215 Tilden Street, Kenedy, Texas (Karnes Co.)
