  The following obituary is from the Sour Lake Public Library & the "Oil City Vistor Sour Lake Newspaper". Mr. R. J. Parker died very suddenly Monday night at his home here. Mr. Parker had lived here for a number of years and was well known, and his death was a great shock, as he had not been ill. Mr. Parker was 68 years old and is survived by his widow, 3 sons, Arthur of Hull, Cleveland and Jack of Sour Lake. He had 6 daughters; Mrs. A.M. Edwards of Tulsa, Okl., Mrs. R.L. Eaton of Enid, Ok., Mrs. Villa Court of Beaumont,Texas, Mrs. O.C. Lindsey, Sour Lake, Mrs. O.C. Smith of Laurel, Miss., Mrs. W.M. Hill of Burkburnett and 2 brothers; E. R. Parker of Sour Lake, William of Austin, Texas Funeral services held at Methodist Church, burial at Rosedale Cemetary."
  Also found in the same newspaper: "Relatives of Mr. R.J. Parker wish to thank everyone for the kind assistance offered them, and the nice floral offerings and especially wish to thank Rev. Mr.Hughes and the choir".
